The New York State Public High School Athletic Association Inc. (NYSPHSAA) announced its Spring 2024 Scholar-Athlete teams, and all of the DA Varsity girls and boys teams made the list. This means that for the first time in at least 14 years, ALL DA Varsity Teams across 3 seasons qualified for NYSPHSAA scholar athlete team! DCMO BOCES held a Signing Day on Wednesday for Career & Technical Education students at their Harrold Campus in Sidney Center. Delaware Academy senior Gavin Matthews was part of the ceremony as he accepted a position with Delaware County Department of Public Works. Gavin will begin his new endeavor on June 17. On Thursday May 22 students in Modern Band visited the Woodstock museum in Bethel with Mrs. Collison and Mrs. Gibson and ate lunch on the site of the festival. Pretty groovy!

Mrs. Gibson and 6 students attended the 2024 UkeFest at the Ashokan Center in Olivebridge, NY this weekend! It was a day of workshops, performances, and enjoying the music of the ukulele. Delaware Academy alumnus Elise Rapunkus met up with the group as well!

When the Meredith Dairy Fest needed new wooden cow signs to promote the event, Delaware Academy students came to the rescue! Students in the school’s FFA chapter and Ms. Somers’ Woodworking/Welding class have cut dozens of new plywood cow signs, and are hard at work painting them. Look for them, coming soon to a field (or yard!) near you! The Meredith Dairy Fest takes place June 8-9.

Senior Kara Fitch got a good surprise this morning: she learned that she'd been awarded a Presidential Scholarship from SUNY Delhi! The Presidential Scholarship provides up to $7,000 per academic year for non-tuition expenses (recipients remain eligible for New York State Excelsior Scholarships for tuition), and are awarded to students graduating from a local high school who have a 93 or above final high school GPA. Congratulations on this prestigious award, Kara– we’re proud of your achievement!

13 new members were inducted into the National Honor Society last night in a ceremony at the Delaware Academy High School Auditorium. Current members conducted the ceremony, along with High School Principal Crystal Trask and Mr. Ainsworth, NHS Advisor. Keynote speaker was Megan Ainsworth. The four pillars of the National Honor Society are Character, Leadership, Scholarship and Service; we're proud to have such a strong group of members representing those principles at Delaware Academy.
